Job overview

Hatcham College is seeking to appoint a new Cover Manager. Hatcham College is the founding school of Haberdashers’ Trust South, that is made up of 4 secondary schools and 5 primary schools, in South East London.

This role involves leading our team of cover supervisors to ensure that whenever teaching staff are training, on school trips, or absent, their classes are covered appropriately so that learning continues. This role will suit someone who enjoys scheduling, timetabling and solving puzzles. Experience of covering classes is not necessary but strong logistics and planning skills are required.

We occasionally use supply agencies and this role requires someone who can develop relationships with supply agencies (for long and short term supply). This will include negotiating daily and hourly rates with supply agencies in order to achieve the best value for the school.

Staff at all stages of their career are supported by professional development opportunities. This role would suit an experienced colleague, or someone new to leading and managing others. This role will be line managed by a member of SLT and there are experienced post-holders within the team to provide support and coaching.

This role requires a 7am start to ensure all cover request are dealt with in a timely manner.

We want the best people to join our Haberdashers’ community and we are committed to a diverse and inclusive student and staff body. If you are passionate about making a difference and feel that you have the right experience and expertise, you are encouraged to apply to join us on our journey.

To arrange a confidential discussion about this role, please email hatchamhr@habstrustsouth.org.uk . Completed applications should also be sent to hatchamhr@habstrustsouth.org.uk

We will interview candidates as and when applications are received and reserve the right to close this job advert early if we adequately fill the position. It is advised that you submit your application as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and we expect all staff and volunteers to share in this commitment. This post falls within the scope of regulated activity. Appointment is subject to an enhanced DBS with list checks (and other relevant checks). It is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from engaging in regulated activity with children.
