Job overview

We wish to appoint for September 2015 a curriculum leader with a background in Chemistry and a proven track record to lead the teaching of science in our new school.

Since 1973, Northallerton has been served by two comprehensive schools about one mile apart – the Allertonshire School (11-14 middle deemed secondary) and Northallerton College (14-18). On April 2nd 2015, these two schools will merge to become a single 11-18 school. Key Stage 3 will continue to be taught on the school site and Key Stages 4 and 5 on the college site. The new school will be called Northallerton School & Sixth Form College. The school will have approximately 1300 students (250 in the Sixth Form).

The post holder will be responsible for leading the teaching of science across the school and in the Sixth Form.

The successful candidate will be:

  • Experienced in science teaching with a degree in Chemistry
  • Knowledgeable of the latest research and the development of science at the national level
  • Passionate about science
  • A team player able to work successfully with others in the department.
