Job overview

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, skilled and knowledgeable Data Manager.

This is an excellent opportunity to work in a growing Academy, where you will be highly supported by both the Academy team and the wider Harris Federation. As the Academy grows to full capacity there is a wide range of opportunities for future career progression.

You will lead on completing an accurate Academy census and school workforce return, as well as acting as an expert and consultant for high level data & MIS queries, planning advice about how best to approach problems in PowerBI and BromCom.

Main Areas of Responsibility

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Vision and strategic direction of using data effectively, reliably and to improve operating performance
  • Design and implementation of operating, collection and designing systems to meet accountability measures
  • Ensuring the Academy is well prepared for an OFSTED inspection at any time and that data is available rapidly
  • Leading on the options system and maintaining an effective system that produces live data
  • Reporting to governors on a termly basis on the strategic use of data
  • All data analysis templates for all live data
  • Devising and managing a system that links and pulls all statutory data for trips
  • Designing and leading on all tracking in the Academy, and overseeing the behaviour management system
  • Leading on parental reporting, access and security, and on progress reports for parents
  • Leading, monitoring and evaluating training needs and producing a termly gap analysis
  • Leading a half termly data forum
  • Attending Academy Leadership Group meetings where required
  • Providing accurate data to support performance appraisal
  • Providing whole staff inset on using data
  • Liaising with the Federation data team and overseeing MIS/data software upgrades
  • Oversight of the admissions process
  • All access database applications such as seating plans, Pupil Premium trackers and SMSC trackers
  • Whole school timetable and any ongoing timetable issues throughout the year
  • Line managing the Exams Officer (for 2023-24 academic year, you will act as the nominated Exams Officer and take an active part in the recruitment of an Exams Officer for 2024-25)
  • Advising on the intervention/masterclass timetable

Qualifications & Experience

We would like to hear from you if you have:

  • GCSE in English and Maths at grade C or above, or equivalent
  • Level 3/A Level qualifications, or equivalent
  • Trained in the use of a variety of ICT packages
  • Training on basic Bromcom systems including training on timetable groups, assessment module and report generation, or use of similar systems
  • Training on running academy census or evidence of similar skills in another sector
  • Training on assessment policies and procedures or evidence of aptitude to learn these rapidly
  • At least two years' experience working in school or educational establishment
  • Experience in assessment policies and procedures
  • Experience in creating accurate reports on student data for senior team
  • Experience of working to targets and deadlines
  • Developing policies process and procedures
