Job overview
Chief Examiner’s Department
ABRSM is the exam board of the Royal Schools of Music. We are committed to actively supporting high-quality music-making, learning and development throughout the world, and to producing the best possible resources for music teachers and students.
We are looking for an individual who has the relevant skills, knowledge and experience to work alongside ABRSM’s Chief Examiner in providing vital support to our examiners, and expert advice to ABRSM colleagues in relation to examining matters. You will also provide considerable input into examiner recruitment, training and continuing professional development.
You will be familiar with ABRSM’s work and values, and will share our commitment to high professional standards. You will be musically trained to a high level with wide teaching experience, and will be able to demonstrate solid knowledge and experience of practical graded music examining, preferably also of other areas such as jazz, theory or diploma examining.
Experience of managing people and the ability to work collaboratively is essential. You will need excellent decision-making skills in order to resolve complex issues with sensitivity, awareness and discretion. There is also an important outward-facing and ambassadorial dimension to this role, and it is here that your public speaking and presentation skills will come into play.
This is a wonderful opportunity to work with a wide range of professional colleagues - staff at Portland Place and ABRSM’s freelance examiners, all of whom are highly committed to upholding ABRSM’s values, and to continually improving service levels.
ABRSM offers its employees a range of benefits, including an interest-free season ticket loan and a contributory pension scheme.
