Job overview

We are looking to appoint a Deputy Director of ITT with considerable experience in the development of teachers either in a school or university setting. Working alongside the Director of ITT, you will be involved in the recruitment and selection of trainees, the delivery of our central training programme and the training and support of school-based trainers. In addition, you will play a key role in assessment and quality assurance as well as programme design and improvement. You will have regular contact with a wide range of individuals and groups, including external agencies and senior colleagues in schools.

The King Edward’s Consortium is a well-established group of 23 excellent - and very varied - schools in the Birmingham area. The mixture of comprehensive, selective, mixed, single-sex, 11-16 and 11-18 schools and one special school in the partnership is a key strength. The lead school is King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls, and the successful applicant will be employed by the school.

We are rated number one of all Initial Teacher Training providers in the country in The Good Teacher Training Guide 2013 and we were graded outstanding by Ofsted in November 2012. Consortium schools have worked together since 2004 to recruit and train outstanding secondary teachers. We offer secondary School Direct and School Direct (Salaried) programmes in a wide range of subjects as well as a SCITT programme in Classics. Our School Direct and SCITT programmes include Masters level accreditation and carry the award of PGDipEd with QTS.
