We are proud to deliver learning and skills in over 60 sites within Her Majesty's Prisons, private sector prisons, Approved Premises and the community. Working closely with stakeholders, we aim to provide locally determined, high quality provision which meets the needs and interests of learners.

Having recently been awarded the new Young Offenders Institution contract at HMYOI Wetherby, we are currently seeking to appoint a Deputy Head of Education for the establishment.

Reporting to the Head of Education, the purpose of this role (not limited to) is as follows:

  • To plan and manage teaching staff and resources to maximise learner access to education, opportunity and achievement for all Young People, enhancing their life chances up on release.
  • Implement and manage consistently high quality education services ensuring they meet the individual needs of the learner, aims of business partners and stakeholders and synchronise with the expectations of local authorities, schools, further education colleges and employers.
  • Implement an educational strategy that meets the expectations of the Authority and the Youth Justice Board and will work with the establishment in order to secure consistently ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ outcomes against the Ofsted framework.

As a successful candidate you will have:

  • A degree
  • Qualified teaching learning and skills (QTLS)
  • Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) or equivalent qualification or be willing to work towards this
  • A proven track record of (not limited to) strategically managing a complex education service and achieving outstanding results within budget and deadline and experience of developing and implementing a learner focused accredited curriculum that supports learners post release
