ROLE SUMMARY:

 

 

You must be available in the UAE/Dubai early August to allow for settling in process with an induction start date of 19th August

 

To strengthen our key objectives of delivering highly quality online educational experiences for students we require a Deputy Head of Southeast Asia. The post will be aligned to our Universal Timetable across Southeast Asia and the Middle East and will be based in the UAE. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of teaching and the professional duties that need to be carried out to ensure that high quality teaching and pastoral care of all students are maintained and delivered effectively and consistently throughout the online experience. Reporting directly to the Head of Middle East and Southeast Asia the post holder will be supporting and leading a team of teachers that will deliver a high-quality teaching experience, as well as encouraging innovation and collaboration within the team to evolve the student experience and the efficiency of the school. 

 

The role will suit an educational leader with an eye for detail, a commitment to delivering the very best for students and families, and a desire to ensure that the school can continue to grow efficiently and sustainably to deliver our goals. 

 

As part of the universal timetable working Hours will be between 5am and 4pm GST. Your normal working hours will be expected to be online at 5am GST and expected to finish at 1.30pm GST. As a Deputy Head you will be expected to contribute to events outside of these hours as stated above to include meetings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Teaching responsibilities
  • Ensuring effective communication in all aspects of the role to include liaising with parents as appropriate. To engage parents in their child’s school experience and to work together to remove any barriers to student success in school 
  • To work as a member of a team, identifying issues and exploring and implementing solutions 
  • To be proactive in identifying issues of concern to students and working to develop whole school approaches to address these · 
  • To support and lead in the day-to-day running and pupil-facing operational matters in the school 
  • Support in leading the strategic development of pastoral, mental health, physical health and wellbeing provision
  • Promote pupil leadership and personal development by ensuring that the Student Council and the School cocurricular programme all run effectively. 
  • Responsible to oversee any lessons requiring cover 
  • To undertake quality assurance activity to raise student’s standards of achievement and to evaluate practice. 
  • Work with the Headteacher to lead, motivate, support, challenge and develop all staff to secure continual improvement including his/her own continual professional development.  
  • To be an exemplar of all school policies and practices. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • QTS or equivalent, other qualifications relevant to the role are desirable. 
  • Excellent knowledge of school systems and processes.  
  • Good knowledge of or willing to learn the current and future online learning landscape, and excellent communication skills.  
  • Excellent project management, leadership, and people development skills  
  • Motivated to achieve excellence for self and others  
  • Experience of working with a diverse range of students, and knowledge of our full range of student requirements in Inspired Online Schools.  
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection in relation to school systems and processes  
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills that showcase a dynamic and supportive stance to all stakeholders  
  • Attention to detail, confidence in handling data, and accuracy in work  
  • Aspirational for the future success and growth of Inspired Online Schools, with an understanding of how operational efficiency will contribute to this.  
  • Fast acting where decisions and actions need to be taken 
  • International experience in the Southeast Asia or Middle East region would be desirable.

Inspired Online Schools use state-of-the-art digital technology and operates two established divisions – King's InterHigh, a non-selective fee-paying online secondary school, established in 2005 and a B2B division including Academy 21, serving other educational providers, schools, local authorities and other public bodies.

King's InterHigh is the largest online school group in the UK, delivering a fully personalised education online. Our curriculum structure is based on the Key Stages, with IGCSEs offered at KS4 and A Levels at KS5. We teach students online from Key Stage 2 - 5, through a digital platform.

Academy21 is an online alternative provision, which caters for vulnerable students with different needs from a range of schools, local authorities and virtual provisions. We teach all core subjects at KS3 and KS4 plus various additional subjects including citizenship studies, English literature, history and ICT. Students take GCSEs and Functional Skills qualifications at KS4 and may stay with the school for any length of time, depending on their individual circumstances.

Our successful candidates will join a talented team providing excellent online educational experiences for our students whose ages range between 8 and 18. The successful candidates will demonstrate expertise and experience of delivering their subject specialism/s and come from either a state school and/or independent school background. Passionate about ensuring the students are at the centre of learning, the successful candidate will be used to deadlines, have experience of creating effective learning resources and having a key focus on the academic monitoring and progress of the students.

About our Roles

Here at InterHigh and Academy21, our Leaders of Learning (Teacher) contracts do differ from mainstream schools due to the nature of our business and ways of operating. As a Leader of Learning (Teacher) you will be contracted to 42 weeks of the year, up to 38 of these weeks are contact weeks with the students, with the remaining weeks being available for additional activity such as course writing.

You will work 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. During the school day there are allocated breaks in the morning, lunch time and in the afternoon, with breaks in between each lesson also.

Our lessons are 40 minutes long which ensures the time spent in the classroom is value added and effective. A full time Leader of Learning could be given a timetable with up to 33 lessons, equating to 22 hours of contact time.

As a business and a school, we do not follow the Teachers Mainstream Payscale, we operate in line with our own salary bandings. Further information specifically for each role will be available via the job adverts.
