Job overview

Tes is supporting the appointment of a Deputy Head Pastoral to join a School based in Northamptonshire.

This position represents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate, to start in January 2025, when it falls vacant on the promotion of the current postholder.

THE ROLE

This is very significant whole-School role. The School are looking for an imaginative, resourceful and energetic professional to lead the School’s pastoral care, with all the opportunity and challenge this brings with it.

The postholder is a member of the Leadership Team and reports directly to the Head. Given the skills and requirements of the position, it is envisaged that the postholder will have a strong track record in pastoral care and successful experience of middle-management.

THE SCHOOL

Oundelians are able and curious. They expect to work hard and are encouraged to aim high across the full range of curricular and co-curricular opportunities. They are also decent, grounded young people who deserve the very best from them as their school in preparing them for fulfilling lives.

They do not take for granted their strong reputation for excellence in every aspect of the education they offer, within and beyond the classroom, and seek always to improve what they do.

LIVING IN THE SCHOOL

They are fortunate in their location at the heart of a beautiful market town. School and town are part of the same community; their pupils take their place within this community, not isolated from it. The town has a spirited cultural life, with an annual international festival, literature festival, and frequent performances of nationally touring shows at the School’s Stahl Theatre. For those moving into the area, accommodation may be available at a discounted rate to support this transition. Other benefits include a salary commensurate with the seniority of the position and generous fee remission for qualifying children.

Interview dates: Friday 10 May (first round) and Friday 17 May (second round)

All applicants need to have the Right to Work in the UK to be considered for the role.
