Job overview

As a key member of the Senior Leadership team at Nord Anglia International School, Dubai the Deputy Head will work with the Principal and Heads of the school to deliver an outstanding education to children across our school.  You will be a significant contributor to the overall strategic direction of the school.

NAS Dubai is a new school, having opened in September 2014 but has already established itself as one of the leading international schools in Dubai. We currently have over 700 students on roll with over 1000 students enrolled for September 2015.   Our student population is currently aged between 3 and 13 years old (FS1 to Year 8) with Years 9 and 10 launching in September 2015.  We follow a curriculum based on the English National Curriculum (new framework) which is taught by our strong team of mainly UK qualified teachers, many of whom have previously worked in other NAE schools.

We are seeking a resourceful and committed individual to lead a key whole school initiative.  The desirable candidate will have aspirations of headship and the appropriate attitude, skills and experience to join us in the role of Deputy Head across the school. Most importantly the new Deputy Head must demonstrate the capacity to create a vision for the education of the students of NAS Dubai that is creative, fosters innovation and incorporates the most forward thinking strategies in education that focus upon the learner

The candidate will hold the equivalent of UK Qualified Teacher Status with a minimum of 5 years’ teaching experience, an in-depth knowledge of the English National Curriculum and an up to date knowledge of best practice in teaching strategies.  A secure understanding of the changing face of assessment is essential.

The role itself will focus on the curriculum development and practice across our languages programme.  The role requires a leader and innovator, therefore, applications are encouraged from all leaders primary or secondary, regardless of subject or phase specialism.

In return for your leadership skills, we offer you a competitive tax free salary, generous housing allowance, healthcare, annual flight allowance and up to two school places for your children.  In addition you will have the opportunity to live in one of the world’s most forward-thinking and vibrant cities.

If you would like to take a leading role in driving our school forward and you have the right blend of experience and ambition, then we look forward to hearing from you.

Long list interviews will be conducted by telephone or Skype with final interviews taking place at the school in March.

A Truly International Education

Many schools lay claim to being "international" schools. We are different. While your child's physical classroom will be based in Dubai, our Global Classroom initiative will ensure that they are collaborating with other students from our schools around the world. This makes their learning experience uniquely international.

Academic success

Our students achieve high levels of academic success as well as developing social confidence, respect and a global conscience

  • 95% of our students met or exceeded the world average IB score.
  •  30% of our IB Diploma students scored 40 or above.
  •  71% of our students achieved grade 9 - 7 in IGCSE with 25% achieving 9.
