A unique opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and passionate senior leader, with a proven track record of significant impact on student outcomes and whole school improvement. Sharing responsibility for the school’s daily management with the Headteacher, you will need to be prepared to lead school development in a number of key areas, which would be negotiated according to the strengths of the person appointed.

Located in the west of the city of Leeds, Priesthorpe is a successful 11-18 Foundation Trust school. We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students and are absolutely determined to ensure that our school continues to improve and develop in an innovative environment where encouragement and challenge are central to ensuring everyone, staff and students, strive to maximise their potential.

We were delighted that in November 2012 Ofsted recognized our improvements and judged Priesthorpe to be a 'Good' school. They commented that ‘All staff share the vision for the future of the school and work tirelessly to achieve it’ and that ‘Students are proud to be members of Priesthorpe School and say they are treated like adults’.

Parents and visitors to the school often talk of its unique ethos. Terry Waite, CBE, reinforced this when he visited the school and called it ‘remarkable’.

We can offer:

  • A key leadership role in a forward looking and supportive school.
  • Students who are enthusiastic and keen to learn.
  • Creative and hard-working staff, who have a strong sense of commitment to the school, its vision and its students.
  • Excellent professional development and guidance.
  • A large Sixth Form operating as part of the Pudsey Confederation, in conjunction with two other local secondary schools.
  • A well-resourced school with excellent facilities.
  • A supportive Governing Body.
  • A school committed to doing its utmost to maximize its students’ potential.

We want from you:

  • Proven experience in Senior Leadership of securing whole school improvement.
  • A deep understanding of pedagogical issues and a track record of excellent classroom practice.
  • Evidence of successfully leading and managing teams of staff.
  • The ability to successfully challenge mediocrity and support staff with ease.
  • Be a strategic thinker who can inspire others with your vision and dynamism.
  • High standards and expectations of both yourself and students.
  • Creativity, enthusiasm, and resilience.
  • Have presence and be a visible and approachable leader with a sense of humour.
