Job overview

Engage, Enable, Empower

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and inspirational Deputy Headteacher who is dynamic, creative and ambitious to join our dedicated senior leadership team, teachers and support staff.

The successful candidate will demonstrate exemplary leadership, development and management of the school's academic performance, whilst promoting effective teaching and learning practices that inspires and enables learners to reach their individual potential.

Childwall Sports & Science Academy is a vibrant, ambitious and multi -cultural school. Our ambition is to be ‘outstanding’ in all areas and welcome your application to be part of that journey.

We work hard to ensure that Childwall offers a friendly, welcoming and enriching environment for all, including those who work, visit and study here.

Whilst we are proud of our achievements, we strive to improve year on year whilst maintaining the happy atmosphere for which we are renowned. We match our goals by the whole school community working together as a team.

In the last three years we have become the local school of choice with 161 first place choices and an intake over the standard pupil admission number. Similarly, our sixth form is growing in number and increasing in popularity. Many students travel long distances to join Childwall Sports and Science Academy. It is, therefore, important that we deliver at the very highest level.

Our people are at the heart of our success. We have developed a strong culture of collaboration and best practice, with professional development and career planning at its centre. We invest in our staff with support, coaching, mentoring, and a wide range of top-quality training programmes delivered at every level to senior leadership.

This vacancy has arisen because our current Deputy Headteacher was promoted to Headship. We are now looking for someone to continue his good work and who is committed, enthusiastic and keen to support our young people to strive for excellence.

If you are a dynamic, ambitious and talented individual with a proven track record of school improvement and you feel you would enjoy working in the Childwall family then we would very much like to hear from you.

We look forward to reading your application and hopefully meeting you in person at interview.

I am delighted you are considering an application to join the team of staff at Childwall Sports and Science Academy. This is an exceptionally exciting time for us.

The new senior Leadership team have worked with the staff to set out a clear vision for the future which is of an Academy where every learner is given both the knowledge and the skills to prepare for the 21st century.

We prize the skills of creativity, reflection and resilience in our learners and are looking for highly motivated professionals to model those skills to the students.

The McKinsey report stated that "the quality of an education system cannot exceed the quality of its teachers" and this is a view I completely subscribe to (although I may add that the quality of the educational support staff is also vital).

As a result of this, I guarantee that our professional development opportunities we offer will be first class with bespoke programmes and pathways for all staff.

If you are passionate about improving the life chances of children as we are, then we would be delighted to see you at interview.
