Aspris Talocher School are recruiting for a Deputy Headteacher. We are looking for an experienced and confident leader with a passion for providing an outstanding education for children and young people with special needs. Our Deputy Headteacher will be energetic and have a strong sense of moral purpose, as well as the ability to inspire the team to achieve the highest standards to ensure best outcomes for our learners.


Talocher School is a specialist school for girls and boys aged 7 to 19 with social, emotional and mental health needs some also have an ASC diagnosis. We currently have registration for 60 learners. The school provides a warm, welcoming and flexible environment for young people who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their additional learning needs.


The successful candidate will have knowledge of self-evaluation and school improvement processes and will be involved in modelling and embedding excellent practice across the curriculum. The postholder will have oversight of standards for teaching and learning and have line management responsibility for the teaching staff. You will have experience in supporting our young people who may have autism, emotional behavioural difficulties, ADHD and associated complex needs and supporting young people within SEN schools.

Talocher School is a specialist residential school for girls and boys aged 7-19 years with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties (BESD). The school provides a warm, welcoming and relaxed environment for young people who are resident within Priory residential childcare facilities or as day pupils, who are unable to attend mainstream education because of their behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.

Many young people are experiencing a range of difficulties when they first come to the school, which are compounded by their disaffection towards learning, their negative attitudes towards authority and education and a history of interrupted education, including exclusion from mainstream schools. Due to their difficulties, they may have been out of school for long periods. Our aim is to enable students to acknowledge and cope with their specific difficulties and assist them in fulfilling their potential through providing positive full-time education.
