An excellent opportunity has arisen for an ambitious and inspirational leader to join our school as a Deputy Headteacher from September 2024. We are looking for a skilled and motivated professional, with a passion for improving the life experiences and opportunities of children and young people with SEND, allowing pupils ‘to be the best they can be!’
Heltwate School is a 210-place special school in Peterborough for pupils aged 4 to 19 years olds with a wide range of Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD).
The school operates as one school across 3 separate sites within the city.
The successful candidate will work across all three sites as a leader of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), to provide effective day to day running and leadership for the whole school in line with our school development plan.
If you:
- have significant leadership experience at middle or senior leadership level
- have a clear and up to date knowledge and understanding of relevant safeguarding legislation and ability to prompt a culture of safeguarding across the school.
- have experience of teaching pupils with a wide range of learning needs, preferable between the ages of 4-19 year olds
- experience of planning, delivering and monitoring a curriculum for pupils with diverse learning needs
- have good organisational skills and interpersonal skills forming positive and professional relationships with pupils, staff and parents
- be able to develop and establish excellent relationships with the community and other stakeholders and can work effectively as part of a team

Heltwate is a friendly and welcoming school for pupils aged 4 to 19 with an increasingly complex range of severe learning difficulties associated with Autism, communication and interaction, physical disabilities, and medical needs.
