This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, experienced and innovative leader to widen their experience in preparation for Headship.

Eastbury is a successful, well ordered and inclusive school serving an ethnically diverse community.

In July 2014 we were shortlisted for the TES Secondary School of the year and won the TES Literacy and English award for the second consecutive year. Eastbury has been in the Top 100 most improved schools for three consecutive years and is now achieving good results at both GCSE and in the Sixth form. Our ambition is to become an outstanding school in the next two years. As a result of our success and caring ethos student aspiration and motivation is increasing.

In September 2015 we will become a 3-19 all through school. We are part of the Priority Schools Building Programme which will provide primary accommodation and more modern secondary classrooms. Our mission statement, 'getting the best for and from all our learners' is fast becoming a reality.

The successful applicant will play a key role in closing all the achievement gaps, and improving the life chances of all the young people in our local community. Specific responsibilities will be negotiated on appointment reflecting strengths and the key role of this post within the school.

The school is located within easy walking distance of Barking tube and mainline station.

About Eastbury Community School

About Eastbury Community School

Eastbury Community School is an exciting, challenging and rewarding place to work. Our 3-19 All through school is a large, well-ordered and diverse community of 2200 pupil. We are proud of our achievements and excellent reputation, both locally and nationally. The school strives to be at the forefront of educational improvement and is a Leading Edge school. Our success is founded on the traditional values of academic excellence, self-discipline, responsibility and respect for others.

Eastbury was judged overall as good, with an outstanding sixth form by OFSTED in July 2018.  We believe we have continued to improve and are on the cusp of becoming outstanding. Our exceptional trajectory of improvement and outstanding progress support this judgment.

We feel we are both the ideal place to begin your career in education, or gain the valuable experience needed to develop it further. Our highly praised NQT program is highly valued and our early career teachers stay with us for a few years.  Many of our staff gain promotions both internally and externally, which reflects the high expectations we have of all, and the excellent standard of support that is offered to all staff across all areas. Eastbury Community School always seek to employ talented and inspirational individuals who will ensure the highest standards of academic achievement and pastoral care for all our pupils. In return, we provide a rich experience and the professional development needed for further promotions.

Eastbury Community School is part of a successful 6th form partnership arrangement with four other local secondary schools.  This partnership will potentially cater for the educational needs of over 1000 pupils studying a diverse range of academic and vocational courses. We have had increasing numbers of pupils achieving top grades in our sixth form; in 2019 we had 24% A*/A and an average grade of B-.  Although we cannot publish 2020 grades, we improved on this and our 3-year ALPS measure is a 3, which places us in the top 25% for value added. This was also reflected in the destinations of our pupils, with multiple pupils gaining places at Oxbridge, plus Imperial College London, the LSE and KPMG apprenticeships. Overall, 64% of our pupils went on to study at Russell Group or top third universities. Just like skills and character traits, our pupils have a range of abilities. What we consistently do here, is push them to achieve no matter what their starting point is.

Many families choose Eastbury because they feel that each child in our care is offered an exciting, broad and balanced curriculum and can be assured of support and encouragement to attain their full potential. We see our school as a family: caring, supportive and well-ordered, with a commitment to everyone achieving their best. We challenge our pupils to achieve ambitious goals and to never settle for second best.

Our aim is to create a genuine learning community in which all pupils are challenged and stimulated, cared for and supported. Our mission statement is “Getting the best from and for all our learners” and you will observe from our website and visit to the school this is fast becoming a reality. If you are an enthusiastic and dedicated professional who shares this commitment and are inspired to apply for the post, we would be pleased to receive your application.

We invite you to visit our website www.eastburyschool.co.uk to find out more detailed information about our school.
