Job overview

Due to the promotion of one of our current Deputy Headteachers, the governors of Woodlands Primary School are seeking to appoint an outstanding teacher with a successful track record of middle or senior leadership for January 2016. Applications from existing and aspiring Deputy Headteachers are welcomed.

Woodlands Primary School is located within a challenging setting in the heart of the cathedral city of Salisbury. The school is a one-form entry with a significant number of our children coming from economically deprived backgrounds. All areas of school life have been praised in recent OFSTED inspections; an achievement that we are especially proud of given the challenges we face. Our journey to ‘outstanding’ is based on a safe and stimulating learning environment in which it has been acknowledged that children display consistently exemplary behaviour. Our staff are driven by professional pride and a strong sense of ‘making a real difference’. We encourage every child to achieve their full potential in areas of the national curriculum and across a range of extra-curricular learning opportunities (such as our school orchestra, choir and a host of sports teams). The Headteacher and senior leaders are able to facilitate rapid progress in teaching and learning standards as a result.

We are looking for someone to join and contribute to our team. This is a golden opportunity for someone to develop their own teaching practice and senior leadership experience. The role will entail a classroom commitment and prescribed time and opportunities to offer creative and strategic ideas for moving our school on. There will be specific responsibilities for:

  • Supporting the assessment of learning standards across the school.
  • Motivating and training staff to fulfil their potential in the classroom.
  • Coaching and mentoring opportunities, especially in numeracy.

Visits to the school are welcomed. Please contact out office on 01722 335849 to make an appointment.
