Deputy Principal

Deputy Principal

East Norfolk Sixth Form College

Norfolk

  • Expired
Salary:
C£70,000
Job type:
Full Time, Permanent

Job overview

With the retirement of the current Principal and a new Principal about to take up post this is a great opportunity to join a sixth form college as Deputy Principal. The College, located in Gorleston-on-sea, is in great shape with a grade 2 Ofsted under its belt and much work has already done to move it to outstanding. It is financially secure, has consistently recruited ahead of target and served up a broader curriculum than many sixth form colleges as it takes seriously its mission to properly serve its community and provide opportunity to the widest possible group of learners.

Aside from deputising for the Principal the primary role will be to lead the curriculum teams as they continue to improve the college’s performance to outstanding. The college has a talented team of teachers and support staff who are fully committed to making sure the College succeeds and as a result change lives in a way really makes a difference to its community. There are challenges, of course, the move to linear qualifications and the changes to BTEC to name but two and these have to be handled in a sophisticated and educated way to ensure a smooth and successful transition for staff and students.

You will probably be in a sixth form college already, or maybe running a sixth form elsewhere with an excellent understanding of the way the curriculum and timetabling works. You’ll need superb leadership skills and the ability to work with the government’s agenda in a positive and engaging way. If you have completed the Principal’s Qualification programme and hold a management/ leadership or Postgraduate qualification so much the better but this is not essential.

The successful candidate will join a college in an exciting place with many developments and improvements taking place and will benefit from helping the senior team exploit these changes to the benefit of all.
