Asker International School is a new school which opened in Augut 2013 in the municipality of Asker kommune, which is within the greater Oslo region. We opened with grade 1 to 5, and will continue to expland by a grade per year until we have parallel grades from grade 1 to grade 10. We are an IB candidate school, and aim to become an IB World School within a next few years.

We opened with 37 students in 2013 and expect over 160 in August 2015. Once we have parallel classes in all 10 grades then we will have a maximum of 400 students.
Our school is a vibrant international learning community, with students from the Americas to Asia-Pacific. Our classrooms require multiple learning groups to ensure that all students are developing at their level. None are left behind, none are left waiting. We are looking for an individual that possesses the drive, enthusiasm and creativity to excel in such an environment. 
 
 
We are seeking a Deputy Principal who:

  • Is a qualified teacher (that is recognised by Norwegian Department of Education)
  • Has experience working in a demanding and diverse position
  • can lead teaching and learning experiences throughout the school
  • Has demonstrated an ability to adapt and manage challenging situations
  • Has a positive work ethic and is used to collaborating and sharing ideas
  • Has experience with timetabling and work schedules
  • Has experience working with strategic planning
  • Has some understanding and experience with budgeting
  • Is a skilled practitioner and capable of differentiating to facilitate the language needs of a multi-cultural community
  • Can promote a well organised and stimulating learning environment in line with school policy.
  • Shows genuine enthusiasm and demonstrates a positive approach to students.
  • Will play a leading role in the development of the school curriculum
  • Is IT proficient with experience using different programs and formats, including working with web-base material.
  • Aims to continuously improve their practice and responds positively to feedback
  • Will be an adaptable member of a changing school environment
  • Ideally has experience with conflict resolution and people management
  • Ideally has experience working in a senior management team
  • Ideally has experience in an international school environment
  • Ideally has experience with the IB
     

This contract is based upon an initial 6 month probationary period. It is important to note that a permanent contract cannot be offered until qualifications have been recognised.
