Do you have a Design Technology background or interest, or do you have practical Workshop Technician experience?

We are seeking to appoint a well organised, skilled and professional Technician to support Design Technology (STEM) within the School. If you are passionate about young people, enjoy variety in your role and thrive on working in a busy environment this is a great opportunity for you.  The successful applicant will be part of the development of the DT Department as we grow in numbers in a school committed to promoting STEM subjects through innovative learning and teaching.
The role mainly involves providing technical support, ensuring that equipment is functioning properly and is ready to use, and that the right materials are available for particular lessons. Sometimes you may be expected to work closely with students to explain or demonstrate how to use equipment, as well as helping teachers with a class and supporting individual students on research projects.

Responsibilities:

  • To assist in the organisation of practical support for Technology teaching, maintaining practical equipment and stock levels on all appropriate goods.
  • To keep legal records of safety checks and procedures and have an understanding of Health and Safety within the Technology preparation rooms and workshops.

The post is based at Bohunt School Worthing which will open at a temporary site on Queen Street car park (BN14 7BJ) in August 2015, before moving to a purpose built new school in May 2016 (BN14 8HJ).

Bohunt School is a mixed 11-18 School and Sixth Form with more than 1800 students on roll. We are the state school of choice for the local area and draw students from the surrounding region, including the counties of Surrey and West Sussex.

Sixth Form

Bohunt Sixth Form opened in September 2017 in purpose built accommodation surrounded by open countryside, a short walk away from the main school. Bohunt Sixth Form offers inspirational opportunities for those who relish intellectual challenge, and support from expert staff who know students well.
 

Community

We are proud to serve our community by providing for its leisure, learning and social needs; our facilities are extensive and impressive and include squash courts, a floodlit artificial turf pitch and changing pavilion, a fully equipped fitness room and a sports hall. 

TESLA 

We are a lead school in the TESLA Teaching School Alliance which is a partnership of educators who have the highest expectations and are striving to achieve exceptional education for all by removing barriers to learning, challenging established pedagogy and raising aspirations. TESLA offers a growing range of bespoke continuing professional development and leadership development courses, from newly and recently qualified teachers, to aspiring Headteachers. As a lead school for School Direct, we provide excellent Initial Teacher Training in collaboration with a wide number of Higher Education Institutions
