We are hiring a Desktop Support Technician (DST) to join our ICT Services department. This will backfill one of our three existing Technicians, who is progressing internally.

Our DSTs support staff and students at our Chesterfield and Derby sites. They also support apprentices and apprentice tutors who work remotely.

We support a variety of IT. This includes office computers and student computer rooms. Also, CAD & games-development computers, audio-visual and virtual-reality facilities.

We are a friendly department. We help each to deliver the best service we can to all staff and students.

We try to stop IT problems from happening. We do this by keeping software up to date and following written procedures. (This helps us to do tasks the right way every time). We also keep accurate records and write user-guides to help our customers.

To do well in this job, you should have customer-service experience. You should also have experience installing and repairing computers. You should be polite and helpful. You'll need to follow our procedures (guides) and update helpdesk tickets as you work, to keep customers informed.
