Job overview

Partnership Learning, a growing Multi-Academy Trust, is seeking a Director of Assets to oversee the Trust’s estate and manage new-build projects.

Based in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, Partnership Learning will be responsible by September 2015 for five free schools/academies – secondary, primary, all-through and special - serving over 3,000 pupils with 350 staff across four sites. The Trust will grow to six schools, with over 8,000 pupils and almost 1,000 staff as its current and approved new schools grow and it is planning to expand further in the coming five years.

The Trust’s estate currently comprises a large all-through 4-18 school - Sydney Russell - with refurbished secondary site and primary site in the process of remodelling, a three-school (primary, secondary and special) campus - Riverside - currently in temporary accommodation and a three form entry junior school – Thames View - in a mix of older and more recent accommodation. Plans are well-advanced for two major building programmes to provide, by 2017, a new large secondary school – Greatfields – and a new-build permanent campus for the three Riverside schools.

The Trust is in the process of setting up a core central team consisting of Chief Executive, Director of Operations, Director of Finance, Director of ICT and Director of Assets. The Director of Assets will play a key role in the central team, with responsibility for ensuring that all the estate assets of the Trust are kept in good order and redeveloped and improved as necessary and that new-build projects are managed effectively.

We are looking for applicants with successful experience of asset/estates management at a senior level, preferably in an education or Local Authority context, who have the capability to oversee and implement Assets and Estate Management in a complex environment, successful experience of managing change and experience of overseeing timely and effective delivery of large new projects.

Salary will be paid on the Partnership Learning Senior Leadership Scale, Points 8-12 (£64,758 - £71,889). Partnership Learning’s Terms and Conditions for central team posts closely follow those for equivalent-level Local Government posts.

Applicants should provide: a CV; a letter of application stating why they wish to apply for the position and identifying their strengths in relation to key selection criteria; and the names and contact details of two referees.

A full job description and selection criteria may be requested from, and applications should be returned to, recruitment@partnershiplearning.com.

Closing date: 12 noon, Friday 7th August 2015
Interview date (to be confirmed): Tuesday 18th August 2015
