About us

The Hastings Academies Trust was formed in 2011 to sponsor two secondary academies in Hastings and St Leonards. The Trust’s sponsors are:

  • The University of Brighton: experts in education with a learning centre in the heart of the town.
  • BT: one of the world’s leading communication providers.
  • East Sussex County Council: who started the project and provided much of the funding for the new buildings at the secondary academies.

The Hastings Academy and The St Leonards Academy have been in operation since September 2011. These are now innovative new schools with 21st century facilities, skilled staff and exciting new ways of teaching to ensure that every student achieves their very best. Both our secondary academies have recently been inspected by Ofsted, under their new inspection framework, and judged to be Good (the second highest category).

Dudley Infant Academy, West St Leonards Academy and The Baird Primary Academy joined the Trust during the 2013-14 year, whilst Churchwood Primary Academy, Hollington Primary Academy and Robsack Wood Primary Academy joined the Trust in September 2014. Silverdale Primary Academy has recently joined the Trust and we are delighted to welcome them to our family of schools.

The main purpose of the role:

Ensuring investment in educational technology and staff training across the Trust’s academies has the maximum possible impact on teaching, learning and student achievement.

Core requirements

  1. Provide strategic leadership to drive up standards of student attainment and achievement through imaginative application of education related IT in the academies across the Trust.
  2. Develop and implement strategic planning regarding education related IT in order to constantly improve the quality of teaching and learning in the academies.
  3. Enhance the curriculum and teaching and learning by identifying and developing best practice in application of IT and ensure the sharing of this within and across the academies including computing and out of hours learning.
  4. Ensuring investment in educational technology and staff training across the Trust’s academies has the maximum possible impact on teaching, learning and student achievement.

The Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Successful applicants will be required undertake a DBS enhanced clearance.
