Job overview

As a busy and diverse city with a large proportion of children and young people, Leicester City Council puts a huge emphasis on the quality of its schools. We see a good education system as a way of improving the life chances of our communities, as well as being a real engine for growth and development.

We are now looking to recruit a Director to lead this vital service area, covering school improvement, admissions, early years, adult learning and inclusion. Crucially, we are determined to maintain our strong ties with schools in Leicester, encouraging a collaborative approach. But we also need to offer Heads and schools the appropriate challenge and support, and create a culture of continuous improvement with a robust focus on quality, data and performance.

This is a great opportunity for a determined and dynamic leader to really make a mark in a supportive and progressive organisation. We are looking for candidates with a strong track record of improving educational performance, gained in a Local Authority or school setting, as well as a strong understanding of the effective use of data and systems.

Of course, you will also have a genuine passion for raising attainment and aspirations, and a determination to make a real difference to the lives of our children and young people.
