Job overview

We are looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and enthusiastic Director of Performing Arts to lead our newly-created Faculty from September.

We are bringing the disciplines of Music, Drama and Dance together for the first time in our Academy, and the successful applicant will be a specialist in either Drama or Music. Key to the role will be a passion and love for performance and the drive to create an outstanding and exciting Faculty that can be the pride of both our Academy and the community. You will lead the development of performance throughout the Academy and strive to ensure our pupils gain the confidence and skills they need for life at school and beyond, as well as building a passion and understanding of the performing arts.

Oasis Academy Brightstowe is a highly successful, forward-thinking Academy which maintains high expectations of staff and students. In January 2015, the Academy was again rated Good by Ofsted inspectors, whose report reflects the sustained progress made across the Academy since the last Ofsted in 2011. This is an excellent opportunity to join an Academy which is expanding due to growing numbers, as parents are selecting Brightstowe as the school of choice in this area.

The successful candidate will be passionate and committed to a positive, student-centred, interactive approach to learning and have a strong belief that all children can achieve. You will be familiar with most recent ideas and developments in the field of performing arts teaching through professional development, independent research and reading. Your commitment to raising standards will be demonstrated through your students’ results, and demonstrate your focus on student aspirations and achievement.

We pride ourselves on investing on our staff. As a Head of Faculty, you will be supported to develop your leadership skills in order to create a highly successful Performing Arts Faculty, and to further your own leadership journey.

Closing date: Midday Friday 17 April 2015.

What we stand for...

We often use the word ‘ethos’ to describe the character of Oasis Community Learning and our Academies.

Central to the ethos of Oasis Academy Brightstowe is the idea of a rich and balanced educational environment - academically, vocationally, socially, morally, spiritually, physically, emotionally and environmentally.

Our goal
The goal is to raise aspirations, unlock students' potential and work towards achieving excellence through encouraging a 'can do' culture which nurtures confident and competent people. The Academy aims to develop informed and active learners with a strong sense of self-confidence who can explore questions, seek solutions, solve problems and are not afraid to fail initially, because from failure springs learning and success.

Oasis believes that this can be achieved through high-quality facilities, outstanding staff, clear leadership, a positive, affirming environment and a partnership between students, parents and the Academy. Parents/Carers will be positively engaged in supporting each child.

Our ethos
The ethos of the Oasis Academy is rooted in Christian-based core values, which permeates every aspect of its life. These include valuing everyone and protecting individual rights to freedom and choice, working actively against discrimination and social exclusion, and respecting the beliefs and practices of others. The Academy provides a welcoming environment for students of all faiths and no faith and serves the whole community.
