Part of the Grimsby Institute Group, a £48 million organisation, based in Scarborough on the Yorkshire coast, with an outstanding rating for Finance and rated as ‘Good’ in our November 2013 Ofsted inspection, Yorkshire Coast College is moving forward into a new era as we aim for ‘Outstanding’ and have some exciting challenges ahead.

This role will be responsible for Engineering, Motor Vehicle, Construction and the College’s support teams including, Adult Skills Centre, Quality, Administration, Estates, Finance, HR, IT Support, Marketing, MIS, and Refectory and provides an opportunity to operate at both an operational and strategic level, reporting directly to the Principal in a small, friendly College.

The successful candidate will have a passion for Teaching and Learning with recent experience of providing outstanding leadership and management that has delivered an excellent learning experience.

Yorkshire Coast College is situated in the town of Scarborough, in North Yorkshire. It was established in 1938 as a further education establishment. The Grimsby Institute took over the college in 2010.

Values and Vision

The school values diversity and equality. Students are encouraged to be tolerant and respectful of others. The college offers a wide range of subjects and courses to study which are taught by teaching staff who specialise in certain fields. The college also has high-quality classrooms for students to learn in. It offers traineeships and apprenticeships. GCSEs, A-levels, diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are available to study at the Yorkshire Coast College.

“Standards of work on foundation level courses are high. Learners take responsibility and work well with a minimum of supervision or intervention from teachers. Learners work well in teams and support each other effectively. Teachers and learners work productively together in a professional atmosphere of mutual respect. Assessment planning is thorough and responsive to learners’ needs. Teachers are flexible in their approach and encourage learners to take ownership of their assessment plan. Self-assessment is broadly accurate and realistic. Links with employers have been strengthened recently and are satisfactory. Promotion of equality and diversity is satisfactory.”
