Job overview

Halcyon London International School is seeking to appoint an outstanding individual who will take the school forward into its next exciting chapter, building on the very successful tenure of Barry Mansfield.

Halcyon is an extraordinary school, just over ten years old and rapidly growing in popularity. It is the only not-for-profit, co-educational, exclusively International Baccalaureate school in central London, offering both the DP and MYP programmes. It was founded by a group of four like-minded parents who recognised the need to use innovative teaching methods to empower students in navigating a complex and changing world. Since its foundation, it has been recognised as a truly creative school, fostering a thinking community, committed to holistic teaching and learning.

This is a wonderful and unique opportunity to bring new ideas and energy to a young, pioneering and innovative school. The new Director will have a strategic and hands-on role in planning and implementing the next phase of the school’s development, not least to oversee a future move to a new site and to continue to expand the exceptional education Halcyon offers. The school has had a superb first decade, and the next Director will continue to take it onwards and upwards.

The Trustees are looking for a Director who is committed to the International Baccalaureate education, where the school’s values are at the core, a Director with resilience and experience to navigate uncertain times and a Director who has the vision and creativity to grasp new opportunities with confidence and enthusiasm as they arise.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering strong academic and pastoral excellence, a passion for excellence and a commitment to a holistic education. In a competitive environment for independent international education, the appointee must have the ability to inspire and motivate staff and pupils, winning the trust and confidence of all the stakeholders.

Interested candidates are warmly invited to have an initial, confidential conversation with key members of the team at RSAcademics who are handling this appointment.

Further information about the role and details of how to apply can be found at www.rsacademics.com

Closing date: 10:00am (UK) on Tuesday 7th May

Halcyon London International School is an equal opportunities employer and is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants must be willing to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020.

The safeguarding responsibilities of the role are indicated in the candidate information.

RSAcademics is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to promoting diversity and inclusion in schools.
