To attend to the physical and social needs of children with special educational needs, as directed, to help create a supportive and positive atmosphere where children can work towards maximum independence and integration with their peers.

Responsibilities
- Experience in a caring or community based environment working with children, young people or adults.
- Ability to demonstrate a satisfactory level of literacy and numeracy.
- Ability to observe professional confidentiality and implement sound judgement.
- Ability to communicate at all levels.
- Ability to work under guidance and direction of teaching staff.
- Ability to assist young people in activities such as toileting, dressing/undressing, feeding, etc.
- Ability and commitment to undertake training/development as required.
- Enjoy working with children.
- Flexible and adaptable approach.
- Reliable.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Good interpersonal skills and organisational skills.
- Able to assist in and carry out certain lifting tasks associated with the care of dependant young people.
