Job overview

Worksop College is set in 310 acres of stunning grounds, inspiring pupils to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Many staff live on site in a range of accommodation provided by the school and choose to have their own children educated, for a significantly reduced fee, at the Prep School and the College. The site adjoins the beautiful Clumber Park and is only 1 hour 30 minutes away from London by train. We are able to offer outstanding facilities and deliver high academic standards. We have small class sizes, superb pastoral care and happy and successful pupils.

The English Department provision includes an independent curriculum for Year 9, IGCSE English (Edexcel and Cambridge), IGCSE English Literature (Edexcel) , A Level English Language (currently AQA) and A Level English Literature (OCR). EAL lessons lead to the Cambridge FCE and IELTS qualifications, while some overseas students take the IGCSE English Language in Year 11.

We are currently seeking an applicant to teach English Language at all levels from Year 9 to A Level, as well as some EAL provision for any year group as needed.

Remarkable facts about Worksop College:

In music we have two full time former Oxbridge Organ Scholars on the teaching staff, a third as a peripatetic organ teacher and a fourth Oxbridge music scholar as another peripatetic teacher. In cricket, we dominate the current England team, part of a long and current pedigree. In golf, teachers and pupils enjoy the unique opportunities presented by our ownership of a professional 18-hole course on site. In hockey and rugby, pupils have weekly access to the highest level of coaching and regularly play for county and national sides.

In the words of one new member of staff ‘Students are polite and courteous but, above all, they are willing to engage in and will respond enthusiastically to a range of learning activities…Crucially, many teachers are interested in quality CPD and there is the will, the time and the money to support that…The cohesiveness of staff is excellent; the fact that staff take the time to meet and talk is great.’

As a school we are firmly focused on academic excellence for all within a non-selective school. The College is entering an exciting phase in its development and we are recruiting for dynamic and self starting staff to work with us in fulfilling our aims. In the words of the Head, ‘I want you to be the best that you can be; that applies equally to students and to teachers. This is an ideal post for an ambitious teacher who wants to be part of a dynamic, exciting and successful school.’

All applicants must have a willingness to participate in the Christian traditions of the school. Applications for our roles should be in the form of a covering letter and a completed Application Form to the HR Department at recruitment@wsnl.co.uk. Further details about our Schools and our vacancies can be found on www.wsnl.co.uk or you can contact us on 01909 535769 for an application pack.
