Burstow Primary School is a thriving Foundation Primary School which caters for children between the ages of 3 to 11 years with the published admission number for the school being 60. The school takes from a very wide and varied catchment area within the parishes of Burstow, Smallfield, Horne and beyond and maintains a close link with the Parish Church, Parish Council and wider community. The school is also responsible for the Windmill Sure Start Children Centre located adjacent to the school and the Local Authority Nurture Room (The D.E.N), within the school premises, part of the Surrey County Nurture Group Strategy.

The school has three distinct areas for its 419 pupils;

  • A self-containedEarly year’s unit for 3-5 year olds called the Butterworth unit, located at the rear of the school.
  • KS1 is divided across a Year 1 unit called Carle James, located at the front of the school and two Year 2 classes located in modular classrooms at the rear.
  • KS2 are located in our two storey Mace building and consists of 8 classes.

All classes within each cohort are organised in parallel classes where there is a spread of ability, ages, diversity and equality in terms of gender and there are consistent opportunities for all groups of children to fulfil their own potential and reach the highest achievements of which they are capable. We model and strive to create a school community in which they learn the rights of others and take on responsibility, share successes and deepen their understanding of fundamental life skills.

With our excellent facilities we actively promote extra-curricular learning and community involvement through clubs and social events and are also able to offer an extended school day to our pupils, from our Breakfast Club through to After School Club both of which are very popular.  We are also fortunate to have our own outdoor swimming pool, which is available to all ages through the Summer Term.
