Westbourne expects to rank in the Top 10 co-ed IB boarding schools this year ... and about 5th next year.

An experienced, enthusiastic, highly professional and dedicated English Teacher is required to join our successful and driven team of staff. We have the highest expectations of ourselves and a clear and inspiring vision of our future. The successful candidate will relish working with such a motivated and engaged peer-group, firmly committed to achieving our goals.

Established in 1896, Westbourne School has a strong tradition of academic excellence. We provide a, comprehensive, highly supportive and top-quality boarding and day education for students aged 3 to 18 and have a long-standing track record of success. We have a 98% pass rate at GCSE with students achieving over 50% A*/A grades. In recent years 100% of our IB graduates go on to attend one of their first choice Universities. Half to two-thirds go on to the prestigious Russell Group universities and about two-thirds are accepted into medicine, law or engineering.

You will be outcome-driven with a proven record of success, possessing strong organisational and process management skills, and the communication and interpersonal skills to build strong and productive relationships with students, parents and staff alike. The successful applicant will be responsible for teaching English to final year GCSE and IB students, so experience of working at lKS4-5 is essential. Whilst IB experience is desirable, it is not essential.

Applicants should submit a CV and letter of application, each of no more than two pages in length, to markpeters@westbourneschool.com. Application letters should address the specific role and the attributes and experiences highlighted above.

Westbourne School History

Westbourne School was opened in 1895 at Ebenezer House in Westbourne Road. The present school dates its founding from 1896 when Miss Caroline Ferris became headmistress and named it: 'Westbourne House Preparatory School for Boys'. In 1901 the school moved to 13 Stanwell Road.

The adjoining building, 4 Hickman Road, was purchased in 1975 and the two buildings developed into Westbourne Senior School. Developments since 1975 have seen the school open a college for years 9-11, the acquisition of St. Alma's Girls' school at Victoria Road, after which the school became co-educational. The Victoria Road site now houses Westbourne Nursery and Junior school. Continuing improvements and the broadening of the school curriculum have seen an increase in pupil and staff numbers. Recent re-organisation in the school has led to a unification of identity into one school and the school continues to flourish, building on and adding to the achievements of the past
