Job overview

Oasis Academy Pinewood & Oasis Academy Romford

Transforming lives through inspirational learning

Oasis Academy Pinewood (formerly Pinewood Primary School) joined Oasis in October 2013. The school has capacity for 450 pupils and there are currently 293 pupils on roll, with one form of entry in Reception and Years 4 to 6 and two forms of entry in Years 1 to 3.There is also a fully integrated nursery unit with capacity for 60 pupils (30FTE). Oasis Academy Romford is a brand new primary school opening in September 2016 in the centre of Romford with an initial intake of 90 children, growing year-on-year to 630 students when full. It will be a fully inclusive school at the heart of the community and contribute to the regeneration of Romford town centre.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced, passionate and visionary Executive Principal to lead the two Academies. This is a unique and unrivalled opportunity to develop and grow a brand new community school from scratch, and to drive forward an existing Academy to fully realise its potential and deliver excellent outcomes for its pupils.

Attainment and progress at Oasis Academy Pinewood have improved year-on-year and achievement is currently above national average. However, the school was judged as ‘requires improvement’ by Ofsted in October 2012. Consequently, there is still work to be done in order to continue raising standards and ensure that a good Ofsted judgement is reached at the next inspection.

As a proven and ambitious leader you will deploy their rigorous and exacting standards to build on the existing Academy’s achievements to date and continue to raise attainment, empower staff and ensure excellence is embedded at every level. As Executive Principal of the new school you will establish a centre of educational excellence which breaks down barriers to achievement and creates a new school in which every pupil will flourish.

We do not expect you to do this alone. You will be joining Oasis Community Learning, a family of Academies with the express purpose of transforming learning, lives and communities through the development of Oasis Academies. You will need to understand, share and be committed to the Oasis ethos of inclusion, equality, healthy relationships, hope and perseverance.

About Oasis Community Learning

Oasis’ vision is one of community transformation. It is about people, aspirations, opportunity, education, employment and enterprise. Oasis Community Learning was established in 2004 with the express purpose of transforming learning, lives and communities through the development of the Oasis Academies and their community Hubs.

We believe that individuals will thrive best when the community around them flourishes. This is why, as part of our dedication to raising educational standards, we recognise that children don’t live in isolation; they are impacted, influenced and shaped by the lives and circumstances of those around them.

OCL’s mission is to create and sustain a network of excellent learning communities working in the context of the Oasis ethos where every student can reach their full potential.  OCL  believes this can be achieved through clear leadership, outstanding staff, a positive, affirming environment, strong partnerships between students, parents/carers and the local community and the wider national and international links that Oasis’ global operations create.

As a family of academies, Oasis now offers an exciting and ambitious vision for the future. Oasis students benefit from the expertise of professionals who raise students’ aspirations and learning. All our academies enjoy the leadership, support and challenge of our Academies Education Directorate who refuse to accept that there is a ceiling on what can be achieved.

We strive to enable all our staff to achieve their full potential, benefiting from our commitment to continuous professional development. We facilitate individual development and long term career progression. We foster excellence at all levels, believing in investing in our staff so they can enjoy and perform their jobs to the best of their ability.

Our Principals form part of a national network committed to raising standards and developing highly effective practice. We have established a national group of lead practitioners and advanced skills teachers to support our vision of setting a standard of high expectations in teaching and learning through the sharing of outstanding practice.
