Job overview
We are seeking a Finance Director who will lead on the overall financial strategy and planning at Wigan and Leigh College.
Putting in place an effective financial strategy while ensuring on-going financial control, you will enable the College to:
- achieve an excellent financial health rating
- maximise funding from all relevant sources
This is a senior post holder role which will take a strategic lead in promoting long term financial stability and effective resource management.
This post represents an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing our College so that it can expand the services it provides to local communities.

Wigan and Leigh College is a further education college in Wigan, Greater Manchester, which has been providing education and training locally for more than 150 years. It employs around 1,000 staff and has a student roll of about 17,000. Further education students can choose the A-level professional honours programme or vocational qualifications such as BTECs. An expanding higher education portfolio of foundation degrees, top-up degrees, higher nationals and certificates is available to adult students of all ages, both full-time and part-time.
Wigan and Leigh College operates from several sites across the borough: the Parson’s Walk Centre, School for the Arts and Pagefield Centre are in Wigan, close to the town centre. The Image Centre and Leigh College are close to the town centre of Leigh.
