This is an opportunity for a Graduated to teach Maths whilst studying for a PGCE.This role is to work part time, 3 days per week. The post holder will be required to study a further day per week. PGCE training is funded.

The FRA are currently recruiting for a trainee Maths Lecturer who is hard working, adaptable, proactive, ambitious and available to start immediately. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Maths, Science or Engineering Graduate to join our exciting, challenging and diverse environment. We are making changes to the way Maths is taught here; from Entry Level to A Level, in order for students to develop the maths skills they need for work or to achieve the examination grades they need to go onto the next stage of their education. The successful candidate will be enrolled onto a PGCE programme whilst working and have the opportunity to undertake regular continuing professional development activities age. Working with a team of professionals you will gain a tremendous amount of knowledge and expertise in order for you to grow in this field and make a real difference to young people.

Purpose of the Job:

The post-holder will be responsible for the planning, delivery and assessment of GCSE Mathematics at higher and foundation level and entry to level 2 Functional Skills, delivery of individual and small group support and embedding English and Maths across the academy


Main Activities And Responsibilities

  • Undertake teaching duties of 16 hours per week (to be reviewed on an annual basis)
  • Undertake administration, including contributing to Academy administration, publicity and public relations; enrolment and recruitment including open days, interviewing and enrolment; participation in appropriate team and committee meetings and duties including the interviewing, induction, assessment and examination of students

Specific Duties

  • To plan, design, deliver and assess high quality learning opportunities in Maths using a range of teaching methods, strategies and resources
  • To plan and prepare schemes of work
  • To effectively record and monitor individual progress
  • To promote high expectations and levels of confidence in English and Maths
  • To participate in the invigilation and moderation of learners' work
  • To deliver initial, diagnostic, formative and summative assessment for all students
  • To work with additional learning support staff to deliver additional learning opportunities for individuals/ small groups with specific English and Maths needs
  • To work with curriculum teams to support the effective embedding of English and Maths across the Academy
  • To be proactive in contributing to all aspects of English and Maths provision
  • To provide cover for colleagues as requested
