The role 


We are looking to expand our team and we are seeking an excellent Teacher of Geography for the new academic year. We are looking for someone who wants to celebrate a range of different and representative stories from within their curriculum. We are looking for an individual who is open to new ideas, willing to experiment and who sees teaching as a reflective and ongoing discipline. In Humanities at Bohunt Farnborough the emphasis for students is placed on them learning words that they can use to talk, write and debate the big questions of the world. The successful candidate therefore, will be somebody who sees the potential of a curriculum as a narrative and the development of language for the curriculum as essential.


The Candidate 


We are seeking a candidate who will be ambitious for our students who is keen to take the next step on the career ladder. A passion for influencing curriculum design and innovative practice, and for identifying and developing student potential is key. A keen desire to make a difference and a belief that a good school can and does make a significant difference to students' life chances and achievement, including the wider skills needed in life.


You will:

  • have a passion for Geography which is evident in your teaching
  • demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students
  • have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning
  • be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement
  • possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents
  • demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching  


The Department

The department has three specialist Geography teachers, all of whom have significant experience of teaching GCSE. The Head of Department is a team leader for an examining board and is highly experienced. You will be joining a passionate team who can support a new member of the team. The department has specialist rooms, located in the same area, all equipped with Smart TVs and Chromebooks and well resourced. The department is well supported by a Lead Practitioner within the Trust and all lessons are pre designed and resourced, enabling you to personalise your teaching materials rather than creating resources. This is aimed at reducing planning and preparation time and supports our commitment to a healthy work-life balance.

Bohunt Farnborough is a mainstream, non-selective, community state secondary for girls and boys aged 11-16. The school is located in Farnborough, Hampshire and has good transport links via the M3 and A331.
