THE POST

Aldar Education are currently seeking an outstanding Head of Learning and Teaching at Mamoura British Academy in Abu Dhabi commencing in the 2024-2025 academic year.

 Mamoura British Academy is a British curriculum, mixed gender school until Year 8 and a girl’s only school from Year 9 onwards. It is located in a state of the art building in the heart of Abu Dhabi. RESPONSIBILITIES:

At Mamoura British Academy the Director of Learning and Teaching is a non class based role focuses on the continual improvement of learning and teaching from EYFS to Year 13 with key components comprising of teacher development, improving standards and ensuring pedagogical approaches are used develop best practice in learning and teaching.

 A.   Strategic direction and development of learning and teaching across the school

·  Create and implement the vision for learning and teaching across the Academy and to fully accountable for the impact of this

· To ensure that the Mamoura British Academy Teacher and Learner DNA are upheld by all stakeholders and effectively used and implemented across the Academy

· To be responsible for the learning and teaching aspect of Performance Standard 3 within the UAE inspection framework with respect to SEF writing, the School Development Plan and for school inspections

· Develop, implement and monitor the Continued Professional Development (CPD) programme for staff across the Academy 

· Implement the Monitoring, Evaluation and Review (MER) programme across the Academy, quality assure processes and ensure that targeted and specific feedback is provided to Heads of Departments and Heads of Years (HoDs and HoYs)

· Produce quantitative and qualitative reporting on the MER programme to the Executive Leadership Team and make recommendations on the next steps for the school

· Design, implement and monitor the schools termly observation cycle and provide updates on the outcomes and next steps of the process to the Executive Leadership Team

· Work with HoDs in developing schemes of work, policy documents and development plans aligned to learning and teaching

· To be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the whole school BYOD and Device Strategy

· To undertake policy development and review for all policies that are linked to learning and teaching including but not limited to:

Learning & Teaching, Marking & Feedback, Climate for Learning , CPD and MER

 B.   Learning and teaching

· Oversee CPD sessions and the Learning Communities programme

·  Undertake collaborative planning, teaching and mentoring of specifically identified teachers.

· Implement and maintain a learning and teaching database that showcases examples of best practice in planning, teaching and marking

· Organise CPD learning showcases

· Provide planned opportunities for moderation between phases of the school and between other Aldar Education British Curriculum Schools

·  Undertake learning walks and drop ins around Lower, Middle and Senior School to evaluate the impact of initiatives

·  Leading the Teaching Assistant CPD and performance management programme 

C.   Leading and managing staff

·  Lead the Learning and Teaching Curriculum Action Group (CAG)

·  Lead the Innovation CAG

·  Line management of the Ed Tech Coach

·  Line management of the Academy Librarians

·  Leading on G&T provision across the school

·  ECT Coordination and ECT assessments

·  To be a member of the Lower School and Middle & Senior school leadership teams (PLT & MSLT).

 D.   Other duties and responsibilities

·  To be an Academic Mentor to Year 11 and Year 13 students

· To lead ELT, PLT and MSLT presentations as required

·  Undertake duties as part of the staff duty rota

·  Invigilate examinations, as required, including a minimum of one evening and one weekend external examination session, to support the Examinations Officer and summer examination schedule

· Work with Heads of Innovation and Industry on the development of industry and innovation 

· Work closely with Academy of Excellence Lead and Head of Inclusion to promote G&T provision across the school

· Any other duties as assigned by the Principal.

 REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Qualifications:

· A Bachelor degree in Education or a Bachelor of Arts with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification Education.

Minimum Experience:    

· Minimum 6 years teaching experience in the English National Curriculum

· Experience across Primary and Secondary age ranges desirable

·  Experience in leading whole school initiatives that have led to improvement in standards and achievement

·  Experience of working in more than one international school desirable

· Strong leadership and Inter-personal skills

·  Knowledge of coaching and its benefits

·  Knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations desirable

·  Experience leading/facilitating CPD and coaching programmes

· Commitment to Academy’s Vision and Mission Statement

· Passion for education, teaching, and a belief in the potential of every student

· Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, deal with challenging situations and be resilient

· Commitment to continuing professional development (CPD)

About Mamoura British Academy

Al Mamoura Academy is a partly co-educational international school located in Abu Dhabi, first accepting an intake of students in 2016. The school has primary and secondary areas, with the school’s primary division being co-educational and secondary being girls-only. As a newly built school, Al Mamoura Academy is able to boast of a huge range of modern teaching and recreational facilities, such as an auditorium, a swimming pool, numerous sports courts and halls, as well as a fully equipped library and extensive IT facilities. The curriculum at Al Mamoura Academy is primarily based on the English curriculum in primary phases, whilst secondary phases offer a wider range of international qualifications including GCSEs and A-level studies as well as a US Curriculum pathway.
