Job overview

We require from September 2015 a conscientious, well-qualified and resilient Art and Design teacher to join our school at an exciting stage of its development. You will be enthusiastic, humble to the responsibilities we embrace; fearless in the teeth of the challenges we face, and understand that the differences we make are made in the classroom. You will find teaching fascinating and beautiful and have the ability to enthuse and inspire students to do so as well. If you like moaning about your work, students or the community, this is not the school for you.

As Head of Art and Design, you want to create an ambitious, innovative and collegiate department that ensures the subject is exciting, relevant and enjoyable. You will be an inspirational practitioner with great curriculum knowledge and pedagogical practice. You will value teamwork and be committed to personal improvement and development. You will have a passionate belief in the ability of all to succeed, will walk the talk, have high personal standards and set the highest expectations of students. You will work with supportive colleagues and communities in a friendly and welcoming school described by our students as ‘improving, kind and resilient’.

We are a school whose inspiration is to see our students exceed all expectations. With the support of our Academy sponsor, we aim to improve the life chances of all the children and young people we serve and make it our mission to bring out 'the best in everyone' – students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Hurlingham & Chelsea School Staff, Governors and Students are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of students and staff.
