Job overview

Head of Art (with specific responsibility for KS4 Achievement)

Required for September 2024

We are seeking to appoint an outstanding Head of Art to further strengthen our Art and Design Faculty. Applications are invited from ambitious, inspirational and talented middle leaders or teachers who believe they have the skills, passion and determination to lead our academy Art education to outstanding. The successful candidate will be an expert in Art, have a proven track record of successful outcomes and will have the knowledge and skills to successfully develop KS4 achievement.

Ormiston Meridian Academy is a thriving secondary academy in the south of the city, serving 11-16 year old students. Our ambition statement is ‘Shaping Lives, Building Ambition and Igniting Futures’ and every decision we make and action we take is to ensure our students excel as young adults. Alongside our lessons, we provide a rich and diverse co-curricular programme that develops character and inspires our students. We all work together to instil a strong sense of belonging for all, which enables students to succeed and become active members of the community as they move into adulthood.

The successful candidate will work alongside the Director of Faculty for Art and Design. The level of collaboration within the team is exceptional, making it an ideal role for either an experienced leader or a new leader: either will thrive in an environment where professional development, training and support is the backbone of our success. The successful candidate may be required to teach some aspects of Design Technology at KS3 (Food Technology or D&T). There is no requirement for you to have done this before, as full training will be provided. If you require further information about this please do not hesitate to contact us.

If you feel inspired by working alongside a team of exceptional teachers and leaders, and have the desire to make Art provision outstanding, then we want to hear from you.
