Job overview

Resilient, Adaptable and Independent – does this describe you?

Worksop College is set in 310 acres of stunning grounds, inspiring pupils to succeed in the classroom and beyond. Many staff live on site in a range of accommodation provided by the school and choose to have their own children educated, for a significantly reduced fee, at the Prep School and the College. The site adjoins the beautiful Clumber Park and is only 1 hour 30 minutes away from London by train. We are able to offer outstanding facilities and deliver high academic standards. We have small class sizes, superb pastoral care and happy and successful pupils.

Art is in the fabric of Worksop College. All visitors to the school freely comment on the impact that our students’ art has on them. All areas of the school act as a gallery for student artwork which is adventurous and challenging.

The department, housed in generous and spacious dedicated facilities, has an impressive track record of preparing students to go on to University and directly to excellent art schools to study related subjects. In the past, students have gone on to study Art at St Martin’s, Edinburgh, Manchester, Parsons and many more.

There are regular visits to exhibitions all over the UK and international trips at least every year to destinations such as China, the USA and Italy.

The department has always offered an impressive range of subjects and we would seek for this to continue. These subjects have included:

  • Fine Art
  • Graphic Communication
  • Photography
  • 3D Design
  • Textile Design

Students here have a high regard for the subject and there have historically been unusually high levels of participation and excellent results in public examinations

The Director of Art will contribute to the professional development of staff and manage the work of teachers within the department.

Our learner profile seeks to develop learners who are resilient, adaptable and independent. We would expect to see evidence of this in your teaching and in interview.

Working at Worksop College

In the words of one new member of staff, ‘Students are polite and courteous but, above all, they are willing to engage in and will respond enthusiastically to a range of learning activities…Crucially, many teachers are interested in quality CPD and there is the will, the time and the money to support that…The cohesiveness of staff is excellent; the fact that staff take the time to meet and talk is great.’

As a school we are firmly focused on academic excellence for all within a non-selective school. The College is entering an exciting phase in its development and we are recruiting for dynamic and self starting people to work with us in fulfilling our aims. In the words of the Head, ‘I want you to be the best that you can be; that applies equally to students and to teachers. This is an ideal post for an ambitious teacher who wants to be part of a dynamic, exciting and successful school.’

All applicants must have a willingness to participate in the Christian traditions of the school. Applications for our roles should be in the form of a covering letter and a completed Application Form to the HR Department at recruitment@wsnl.co.uk or by post to Worksop College. Further details about our Schools and our vacancies can be found on www.wsnl.co.uk.
