The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and well-motivated Head of Chemistry who will join a well-established, dynamic and committed science department. The successful candidate will be responsible for regularly monitoring and supporting the progress of pupils studying Chemistry and delivering outstanding examinations results at GCSE and A Level. They will also take a leading role in developing outstanding teaching practice within the science department and implementing the transition to the new A Levels.

The Science Department is extremely well resourced, with state of the art facilities and a suite of new laboratories. At Key Stage 4, pupils study Triple and Double Science and the Sciences are extremely popular options in the 6th Form with many pupils going on to study Science related courses at university. As a top performing department within the College and country (our value added is in the top 1% of the country), pupils strive to succeed at the highest levels; last year, 100% of pupils passed Core science, 97% passed Additional Science and 100% achieved A*/A grades in each of the separate sciences. A – Level Chemistry is also very successful with 50% of pupils achieving A* - B grades in 2014.

The successful applicant will be creative and well organised and, with the support of a strong team, will actively assist in the further development of Chemistry within the College and contribute to the vibrant programme of extra-curricular support. The post is ideally suited to those aspiring to Head of Science posts within 2 – 4 years.
