This support encompasses anything which causes a barrier to learning, whether that is social, emotional, cognitive, linguistic or resulting from disability or family and care circumstances. We are proud of our record of integrating children with additional needs into mainstream classes, although on occasion the provision of a specially designated Learning Support Assistant may be required to meet the complex learning needs of some children.

We are looking for a Head of AEN to join our Senior School Voorschoten team. The Head of AEN manages our 3 AEN teachers & large team of Learning Support Assistants and takes overall responsibility for children on the SEND register. This involves creating, delivering and evaluating individual learning plans and meeting regularly with parents to discuss student progress. You will review and advise, regarding admission of students with AEN, consulting regularly with Primary feeder schools. The Head of AEN also works closely with colleagues to support effective teaching & learning and differentiated strategies. You will promote inclusive practise within mainstream school; evaluate departmental development plans, deliver whole school workshops; and develop materials to support learning.

Candidates should be a qualified teachers as the role involves teaching literacy, numeracy or social skill sessions to targeted groups. We are looking for an outstanding communicator who is able to build trust and instil confidence and who has an extensive experience of dealing with a range of educational needs. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in raising standards in pupil performance, be resolute in securing quality outcomes for all students and be highly organised, working well under pressure.
