With this in mind they are currently recruiting for 3 Heads of Department – Essential Skills to join them in expanding their teams. Reporting to the Assistant Principal, and acting as a key member of the College Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the direct line management of teaching and support staff to ensure the delivery of outstanding quality focused education.

Working with the Heads of Curriculum you will ensure that the English & Maths curriculum meets the needs of industry, local communities, & national priorities, delivering and supporting outstanding and innovative teaching in-line with contractual agreements, monitoring key performance data, implementing associated remedial actions to ensure compliance and accuracy at all times.

Responsible for the delivery of outstanding Teaching and Learning of English & Maths within the Department and sharing good practice and quality targets, you will line manage staff, providing support, identifying development needs and opportunities and managing performance in line with college HR procedure.

Holding a Degree level qualification OR relevant industrial experience or professional qualification, you will have a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE/CertEd) and be qualified to deliver curriculum, internally verify and moderate qualifications and awards. With experience of teaching up to and including level three, you will have a proven ability to manage and lead a group / team to bring about improvements and build successful employer / external relationships.

You will be expected to work flexibly in line with the requirements of the post and be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
