Job overview

Ref: 2442

Wakefield College is an exciting place to be right now. Our vision to be recognised as ‘Outstanding’ has seen us invest heavily in the College infrastructure and management capacity, which is paying dividends already as evidenced by our exceptional pass rates and recognised success in preparing learners for employment and higher education.

Heading up the Functional Skills department, and being a key voice in the senior management team, you will be responsible for leading a culture of high expectations and positive engagement among both staff and students and for driving forward our continuous improvement agenda.

But it’s not just about leading on the strategic vision for the Functional Skills department. You’ll be involved in all aspects of its function from ensuring high quality teaching right through to staff and budget management. So we’re looking for an education professional with a successful track record of realising and exceeding department objectives, especially in respect of recruitment, success rates and income targets.

If you believe our plans could benefit from your education experience and leadership ability, then Wakefield College and the area has a lot to offer. City regeneration over the last five years has meant that it’s a hotbed for culture, a shopper’s delight and can cater for any foodie with a taste for quality. But, perhaps more importantly, the city commands a position in the centre of the country, making it easy to reach by car, bus or train. So whether you want to commute or relocate to Wakefield, the transport links are there to make things easy.

See what we have to offer and come and join us. You won’t be disappointed.

Applications need to be received by 11am Friday 27 March 2015.
