Required for September 2015, an enthusiastic and dynamic Head of Drama to lead and further develop Drama and Theatre Studies at St. Augustine’s Catholic College.

St Augustine’s is an outstanding school and is one of the most academically successful colleges in the country with awards by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust for Value Added and most improved results at GCSE.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Teacher and a member of the Senior Leadership Team to ensure the continued success of the department. The Head Teacher and Governors are keen to support a candidate whose commitment will lead to growth in an area which is seen as crucial in the student’s development. The post requires personal commitment of a high level and will offer a unique opportunity to participate in the growth of this flourishing College.

The Head of Drama will be responsible for constructing departmental development plans in line with the College Improvement Plan and will lead and manage all members of the Drama department. In addition, they will be expected to continuously monitor the quality of teaching and learning, implement effective schemes of work, review assessment procedures and initiate a range of extracurricular provision. They will need to track, monitor and report on student progress and oversee the quality of the final written reports for their department. Also, they will also need to work with the members of their team to set targets for learning using benchmark data. In addition, the College holds Artsmark Gold and the successful applicant must continue to sustain this award.

The Drama Department is housed in a purpose built theatre and a classroom and the main hall is also used for college productions. The Department is well equipped with excellent resources for Yrs 7 – 13.
