Job overview

The Education Section is committed to providing an excellent education to all children and young people in the Western Isles through high quality provision and experiences in learning and teaching for all children. This is supported by the use of a range of quality indicators and standards which enable the service to identify best practice and areas for development thus ensuring continuous improvement.

The Head of Education will be responsible for all aspects relating to the management of schools including curriculum re-design, attainment, and learning and teaching (including E-Learning). They will provide direct management responsibility for Head Teachers in 26 schools, Senior Education Officers, Schools IT, Asset Management, and Catering and Cleaning.

You will be a qualified teacher with experience of operating at a Senior Management level in a school environment. You will have in-depth knowledge of the curriculum and assessment methods and the ability to initiate and manage change and improvement in pursuit of strategic objectives.

A relocation package is available.
