We are seeking to appoint an exceptional Head of English to lead this highly successful and vibrant department.

Are you:

  • a dynamic graduate with the leadership qualities to take the department into the next phase of development?
  • an experienced teacher of English at KS3/KS4/Oxbridge entry, able to show evidence of flair and creativity in developing the delivery of the subject?
  • an excellent classroom practitioner with a clear sense of purpose and high expectations of all students able to deploy a range of techniques and approaches?
  • prepared to take a lead role in the strategic planning and delivery of English throughout the school?

The successful candidate must be a strong communicator, have the ability to inspire pupils and colleagues and will be expected to take a lead role in the strategic planning and delivery of English throughout the school.

About Sydenham High School GDST

Sydenham High School is a mainstream, independent, all-through girls' school with sixth form, situated in Lewisham, south-east London. The school caters for over 750 students aged 4-18.

Sydenham High School was founded in 1887 by the Girls’ Day School Trust (GDST), the leading group of independent girls’ schools in the UK. The Senior and Prep Schools have their own grounds located minutes apart and an 8 acre sportsground, used by all pupils, is a 20-minute drive from the school.
