Overview:

The Australian International School’s ‘globally focused, distinctly Australian’ approach provides students with an international education that is underpinned by the Australian curriculum. As the only southern-hemisphere school in Singapore to offer both the IB and Australian curriculums for students aged 2 months to 18 years, the Australian International School is widely regarded as a leading centre of educational excellence. 

AIS is home to more than 2,400 students and 200 teaching staff. Our core focus is delivering high quality academic programs that will enable students to achieve their intellectual potential and have greater choice in their lives beyond school, including access to the best universities both in Australia and internationally. The Australian International school offers a holistic, rounded education, which cherishes the arts and sport as well as academics as being essential to each student’s learning journey. The AIS curriculum and culture not only values academic achievement, but aims to develop students into adults who have a moral commitment to making the world a better place as reflective, caring knowledgeable and principled people.

This ‘rounded education’ philosophy  is consistent with the ‘learner profile’ of the International Baccalaureate (IB) which is a world renowned, values based international curriculum, driven by enquiry based learning  practices. AIS is a fully accredited IB World School offering the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme, and the IB Diploma Programme. AIS also offers the Australian Higher School Certificate in Years 11 and 12 and from 2013, the IGCSE in Years 9 and 10.

At the Australian International School we invest considerable resources in student welfare programs. We believe that when a student feels safe and their emotional needs recognised and met, they are in the best place to access the opportunities for learning and personal growth.

AIS has continued to grow rapidly since it was founded in 1993, with the latest groundbreaking stage of development due to launch in 2017. The Early Learning Village opened in July 2017 and will provide learning capacity for 800 young learners aged 2 months to 6 years.

Population

AIS is a co-educational school for students from Infants (2 months) to Pre University (Year 12 – age 18+). The School is divided in to two three sub-schools; Early Years (Nursery to 4 year old Preschool), the Elementary School ( Prep to Year 5) and Secondary School (Year 6 – 12).  There are over 50 nationalities represented at the School.
 

Head of School

Mr Andre Casson brings 20 years’ international education experience to the School as the School’s Head of School.

Following a successful career as a Science Teacher and Academic Leader in assorted Independent schools in Western Australia, Andre was appointed to the inaugural position of Deputy Head of Senior School at Dulwich College in Shanghai.. At Dulwich Andre developed a passion for international education and an insight to the challenges confronted by students in a third culture setting. Moreover, he was able to engage with the IGCSE and IB Diploma Programme both as a teacher and manager. 

In 2010 Andre returned to Australia to commence the position as Deputy Head of Senior School at Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) in Brisbane. In 2012 Andre moved to Singapore to take up the position of Head of Secondary School and in January 2018 Andre assumed the role of Head of School.
 

School Leadership Team

The School Leadership Team exists to advise and assist the School Principal and the Heads of Early Years, Elementary School and Secondary School in the daily management of the Sub-Schools.
 

The School Governance & Board Members 

AIS is part of the Cognita Schools Group. Cognita is a leading international independent schools group, committed to excellence in education. 

The School receives no government funding and is funded by school fees and the investment of shareholders. The School has an advisory board which meets quarterly.
