Job overview

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Geography to our new school which opened its doors in September 2021, and which serves the local communities of Middleton and Heywood. This role would suit an existing Head of Geography or a person wishing to take that next step in their career. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to drive your curriculum as we begin KS4 in September 2024. You must be passionate about the education of children and committed to supporting all students, so they achieve their full potential. We are a small but growing school; currently we have years 7, 8 and 9 on roll and are significantly oversubscribed.

At Edgar Wood Academy our Positive Discipline approach is one of mutual respect and compassionate rigour; our aim is that our students do the right thing by choice rather than because they must.

Edgar Wood Academy is part of the Altus Education Partnership and as such our staff benefit from a wide range of support and development within a collaborative community.

To work at Edgar Wood Academy, you must aspire to be an outstanding colleague, with a willingness to share and learn. We wish to appointment someone who will help us to make a positive difference to the lives of young people in the borough.

In return, we promise a supportive and enjoyable working environment and the resources needed to carry out the role to the highest standards, including a bespoke professional development programme to support you with your future career aspirations.

Further details about the role can be found in the Application Pack.

Closing date: Friday 3rd May 2024 at 12:00 noon

Interviews: Friday 10th May 2024

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. This position is subject to an Enhanced DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

In accordance with the recommendations set out in KCSIE the Trust carries out online searches on shortlisted candidates.
