The curriculum area delivers HE provision in Early Years, Early Years Education, Health and Social Care and Teacher Education. It also delivers an FD in Engineering and professional AAT programmes.

As Head of Higher Education and Professional Studies, you will manage the development, promotion and delivery of courses within the Directorate including Higher Education (QCF Levels 4, 5 & 6) and Professional Management qualifications (Levels 2, 3 & 4). Leading, managing and developing teaching and support staff, you will aim to achieve high standards of delivery to students and other stakeholders whilst making recommendations for change in order to grow and develop the provision. You will be expected to apply your own initiative to ensure continuous improvement, reputation management, curriculum development and diversification and income growth to achieve the aims of the College’s Strategic Plan.

Candidates for this role must have previous experience of working in a similar or comparable field of work at third/forth-tier management level. Having recently taught in one of the main HE disciplines, you will be able to demonstrate experience of the effective management of the curriculum, people, resources and projects and have previously collaborated with external partners including HEIs.

Educated to first Degree in a relevant area or with a relevant vocational qualification, you will have a proven ability to lead, motivate, support and develop staff, both as individuals and within teams and be able to work at a strategic level and direct and manage others to achieve strategic objectives and targets.

In addition to this, candidates must hold a recognised teaching qualification and have previous success in the management and achievement of strategic aims and objectives.

Carshalton College is a co-educational further education college based in Sutton. It is a non-denominational school.

The college has been an education provider for over 60 years. It is a major provider of full-time, part-time, apprenticeships, access, undergraduate and supported learning courses. 

The college is situated in an environment surrounded by parks and ponds, but within a proximity of the towns of Sutton and Croydon. It is accessible from all areas of south London and its transport links also allow its students to be in the centre of London within 30 minutes.

In terms of facilities, the college has a health & fitness centre, a restaurant, a common room, a beauty salon, and a quiet contemplation room.
