Job overview

The Head of Humanities Faculty will be a History and/or Geography specialist who can demonstrate a successful track record in raising attainment and leading a team effectively. You will be a role model for effective classroom practice. The faculty delivers History, Geography and RE to GCSE with additional responsibility for PSHE and Citizenship. We are looking for someone who has a creative and innovative vision for leading this successful faculty in the 21st century, and the determination and skill to turn that vision into reality.

Our school is located in the coastal town of Great Yarmouth, a port town and popular seaside resort on the edge of the Norfolk Broads. We serve a well defined urban area and increasingly diverse community. For some groups of students, low aspiration or poverty can be a significant challenge. Though overall achievement is currently below national averages it is improving strongly, and our value added is consistently far higher than the national average. This is not a place for complacency. We have an extremely highly motivated staff team across the whole school who work well together with strong mutual support, and the difference they make to young people's lives is tangible.

Further details are available on our website www.greatyarmouth.norfolk.sch.uk If you would like to come and look around the School, visits can be arranged for you upon request. Equally, the Headmaster is happy to talk with you about the School and the job. Please contact Rachel Loveland in the first instance.

To apply please send your completed application form to rloveland@gyhs.co.uk.

Closing date: 24th July 2015

We look forward to hearing from you.

Great Yarmouth High School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
