Job overview

Hoe Valley School, a Brand New Secondary School in Woking, Surrey

If you are the type of teacher that has yearned for the chance to create a school - from scratch - without the burden of a legacy, then you will see this as a tremendous opportunity to help us craft our new school. Working to create a new school will not be like working at most other schools.

We are looking for a passionate, talented and experienced practitioner to join our team in leading a brand new school in its journey to becoming an established, outstanding and oversubscribed community school. The school is committed to developing future leaders and encourages applications from ambitious individuals who want to lead and drive the best educational opportunities for all students.

Hoe Valley School (HVS) is opening in September 2015 with up to 120 year seven students. The successful candidate will be the first Head of Humanities at HVS and will join the first group of leaders who will share and learn from one other as the school grows. They will have the exciting and unique opportunity of starting a department 'from scratch', designing a KS3, KS4 and KS5 curriculum which is bespoke, challenging and fit for the needs of 21st century life and, as the school takes in new year groups, will have the opportunity to recruit their own team of outstanding History, Geography and English teachers.

Our new Head of Humanities will be an inspirational teacher with a proven track record of leading pupils to achieve outstanding results, who embraces innovation and is always looking for the very best practice in teaching. They will share the school's vision and the belief that all young people can achieve at high levels.

Closing date: Wednesday 6th May 2015
Interviews: Tuesday 12th May 2015
