We are proud to deliver learning and skills in over 60 sites within Her Majesty's Prisons, private sector prisons, Approved Premises and the community. Working closely with stakeholders, we aim to provide locally determined, high quality provision which meets the needs and interests of learners.

Having recently been awarded the new Young Offenders Institution contract at HMYOI Wetherby, we are currently seeking to appoint a Head of Inclusion for the establishment.

Reporting to the Head of Education, the purpose of this role (not limited to) is as follows:

  • To effectively manage all support and inclusion services and staff within the YOI to ensure the right support is in place for learners to receive the appropriate and most effective methods of support intervention.
  • To work in close liaison with other YOI departments and staff to ensure that the special educations needs and disabilities of all learners are identified, assessed and met.
  • To ensure that comprehensive individual learner Educational Health and Care Plans (EHC Plans) are in place, regularly updated and monitored as learners’ progress through education and on into mainstream education, training or employment.

As a successful candidate you will be required to have:

  • A teaching Qualification – minimum Cert Ed or PGCE
  • A degree or equivalent
  • A SEN(D) qualification at level 4 or above
  • At least a level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy
  • A track record in implementing strategy and policy relating to special educational needs
  • Experience of working effectively with disadvantaged learners some of whom may present a range a challenging behaviour
  • A track record of using data to monitor, evaluate and influence course development and to provide relevant learner support
  • Experience of successful team building
